This angel is from a series that was initially inspired by color. At an exhibit of Krishna art at The Art Institute Chicago (Gates of the Lord: The Tradition of Krishna Paintings), there was a textile piece that was composed of magenta and silver. I was so struck by this color combination, which would never have occurred to me. The contrast was stunning. I wanted to utilize this effect in a Western spiritual context.

The scan doesn't show that the vinyl I used for the angel's body is a metallic silver. The text is printed on a rough, cold press paper, and the background is brown corrugate.

Traditional religious symbology often presents angels as bringers of light and wisdom. In this collage, the angel figure is accompanied by words of wisdom. The viewer could interpret the angel as representing human potential, with "wings" that lift us above that which we are today. The quote gives a glimpse of a bigger, more inspiring perspective for humanity.
