Background:

Penelope was born to a young couple who definitely weren’t ready to raise a child. She was put up for adoption immediately after her birth. Even in her youth she had a very stoutly build, the adults in the orphanage often criticized and poked fun at her weight, believing her to be sneaking extra helpings of food they would cut back her serving size, and monitor her weight rigorously, punishing her if she gained weight. That sort of toxic behavior was naturally picked up by the other children in the home and she was bullied constantly.
By the time she was a teenager Penelope suffered from Bulimia. It was also around this time she began learning to knit, not having many friends she had a lot of free time and decided to learn to knit. She would knit herself big sweaters to hide herself in and would even wear them in the middle of summer. She would also knit blankets and deliver them to hospitals or homeless shelters.
When she was 16, on one of her usual walks through the park she noticed an older blind man who appeared to be homeless. She went to him, offering the usual things, clothes, blankets and food. He graciously thanked her but turned down her offer, telling her to instead give it to someone who needed it more and instead asked that she grace him with her company for a while. Surprised she agreed, not having anywhere else to be. Quickly she became immersed in conversation and hours passed in the blink of an eye. Day after day she found herself taking the same path home, passing through the park just to talk to the old man. They quickly became friends. He told her about his life, how he was a widower and he lost his husband several years ago. She told him about her life, her ongoing battle with Bulimia and her struggle to be whole and happy again. The old man was surprised but he told her kindly that she was beautiful, he didn’t have to look at her face to know that, for he saw her soul and it was truly beautiful.
Those words struck a chord in her that she never let go of, and was the catalyst that began the start of her recovery. She wanted to become the person that the old man believed she was. Slowly but surely she started to overcome it. When she turned 18 she discovered a love for the pin-up style of modeling and decided to pursue it as a career.
After a year of interning and studying she returned to visit the old man, but she learned his health was quickly deteriorating and he didn’t have much longer to live. She went to the hospital to visit him, telling him stories of her internship and the offer of her first real modeling job. He was thrilled to hear everything was going so well for her and encouraged her to chase her dreams but reminded her to never lose who she was. She stayed with him until he passed on, upset that she had lost her first real friend but had already accepted his death. She kept his memory in her heart as she pushed forward in her modeling career, using it to help promote body positivity.
Being in such a better place mentally, she didn’t hesitate to reach out to the voice who asked for her help. if she could make even the slightest bit of difference that was all that mattered

Personality:

Penny is quite excitable, she’s an extrovert in the truest sense of the word. She loves being around people and learning new things, if you can teach her something she’ll earnestly want to learn. She’s very passionate and will throw herself into whatever has most recently captured her attention. She’s a bit of a perfectionist so it might take a while before she’s adequately satisfied with the result. Her mind is constantly going with thoughts and ideas. She’s motivated and quick-witted and is good at coming up with ideas and carrying out plans on the fly or in the midst of chaos thanks to her modeling work.

Updates:

Penny has become more of a caretaker for Mateo, Ferret and the others. After seeing Crow die and nearly dying herself she has started suppressing the shit out her emotions. She overworks herself to keep herself distracted, and on top of the nightmares that appear everytime she closes her eyes, she is exhausted. If you catch her at the wrong moment you may see the cracks in the walls she has built up for herself. But she will assure you is perfectly fine. She just wants to be strong for the others.

Jae's death really rocked her to her core. She was not ready for his death whatsoever and loosing him tore her up emotionally and mentally. On top of losing her arm, she feels completely useless. Her happy mask is gone for the most part. Though on certain occasions you might get one of her old smiles and an invite for food.

She’s a pretty strong wall and can take several hits before any real damage is done. If she’s too far away to get in close she’ll use her knitting needle like a dart. But if she is defending somebody She’ll use her body to block the blow and stab with her needle like a dagger.

The lock clicked as Penelope entered her apartment, dropping her keys on the coffee table. She leaned against the armrest of one of the chairs, reaching down to remove her heels and rub her aching feet. It had been a busy day, her manager had accidentally double-booked her and she ended up doing both shoots back to back. Penelope sunk back into the chair with a sigh. Thoughts swirled in her mind, being tired was so excuse for a bad shoot. It was her job to make sure the photos they took were the best possible quality she could provide. “I’ll have Ash call the magazine tomorrow, if the pictures weren’t good I’ll schedule another shoot when they’re next available” she murmured to herself. Her eyes wandered around the apartment, lighting softly on the hallway to her bedroom. Picking herself up from the chair, she walked lightly across the room, the promise of a hot bath and her knitting calling her name.
