Some layers were accidentally lost on the fence/banners but I just could not be bothered to do it over. This took longer than I intended and I started to get burnt out by the third day of working on it. This is my first show entry, Val's first show entry, Death Dance's first show entry and the first image of Death Dance after his reference: In hindsight, a big picture of a horse's butt was probably not the most flattering start.

The year is 1517 in Thespiria , seven years after SoraWithWings 's Chapter 199: The Doctor's Payment , where Dr. Valkryja saved Celestian 's foal, Bringer of Light , and Celestian repaid him by offering his mare Rain Dancer to pair with Valkyrja's stallion Ajal , whose name means "death" in Turkmen. Silly carefree Rain Dancer ended up forming a bond with wicked aggressive Ajal and the doctor's training method worked better for her than Celestian's. Because she was happy there and Val's training had transformed her from a childish troublemaker to a reliable mount, Celestian allowed Valkyrja to keep her permanently. Rain's foal, Death Dance, was born a year later in 1511. Becoming a mother changed Rain. Once known for spooking unexpectedly and only caring about having fun, she was now responsible and level-headed. On the night of Bringer's birth, Rain had demonstrated exceptional speed, endurance and loyalty. Val's stallion, Ajal, had those same traits paired with a vicious personality resulting from the abuse of his former master that made things difficult for Val when he tried to visit his patients. Being both a doctor and a veterinarian, Val travels often around Heaven Falls and wanted a horse that could cover long distances with speed, but also remain calm in the face of danger and follow his orders no matter the situation. The result of combining Rain Dancer with Ajal was just what Val wanted, and only one inch shorter than his 16hh Ajal (Valkyraj is 6'4"). Ajal has not featured much in Sora's storyline but has been around for years as Val's mount for various roleplays so his first foal is a bit exciting for those who are already familiar with him outside of HARPG/Deviant Art.

Valkyrja is a Thespirian Stryx Vampire  but after his family was murdered unfairly by vampire-slayers, he is careful to keep that information private. He chooses only to kill humans that he believes deserve to die (the name Valkyrja means "chooser of the slain") and mostly targets cruel and abusive people, like Ajal's former owner. With the exception of Rain, all of his horses are rescue horses that he personally saved from tragic circumstances after devouring the people who had hurt them. The Tennessee Walking Horse is one of the most abused horse breeds in the world in real life so Val naturally ends up with a lot of them. He plans to pair Death Dance with a TWH mare in hopes of getting a horse that can travel far not only quickly but comfortably. Death Dance's daughter, VH06 Perses will not be born until the year 1521. Valkyrja is not interested in competing or winning; he avoids calling attention to himself and would in fact prefer not to win or otherwise stand out unnecessarily. What draws him to events, in addition to hunting (scouting for people who mistreat their animals to the point they end up on his dinner list) are unique cross country courses with interesting obstacles. He brought Death Dance here to test his abilities before breeding him. Death Dance has some of Rain's playful personality and it takes patience to get him to calm down and focus. He was never abused like his mean-spirited father but he is equally vindictive, never forgetting those who make a bad impression on him.

Valkyrja attended the event with his adopted sons, Tungsten Valkyrja  and Antimony Valkyrja , who, like his horses, were rescued from abusive homes. Tungsten is outgoing and loves to compete but Antimony is extremely shy. Antimony was a werewolf pup that Val converted into a lycanpire and he usually stays by Val's side in the form of a wolf, pretending to be Val's pet dog. Tungsten convinced him to make the effort of being a little more social because cross country is just a ride through the forest and along the beach instead of being trapped in a ring with a crowd of people staring, but he would only go if Valkyrja entered first. Val is renowned for his medical skills, not his charisma. Antimony is almost entirely mute, only speaking to Tungsten and Val and only in Russian. Valkyrja would like for him to recover from his traumatic experiences but is not very good at being supportive, especially since Valkyrja himself is not a sociable person. The best he could do was lead by example and run the course with Death Dance to show there was nothing to be afraid of.
