The title of this image refers to the novels by Kim Stanley Robinson regarding the colonisation of Mars. I'd imagine that if it ever occurred, it may at some point, look like this. This area of Iceland can only be reached by 4X4 (Safely anyway) during the summer months. It is one of the most remarkable areas I have ever seen. Amid the raging winds on the day we were there, the passing clouds let through shafts of light which would illuminate the mountains and light up the greenery. Not a tree in sight in this geothermal wasteland.

I knew from the thumbnail that this photo was taken in Iceland although I've never been to this area myself. Beautiful picture, I like the contrast between the dark sky and greenery, now I'm impatient to see some green here (all is white right now

Wow, this looks amazing, the saturation is just right as well, too much and it owuld look dreadful but you got it spot on. It's a bit dark overall but that's obviously a limitation of the dynamic range. Have you thought about selling your pictures as desktop wallpapers? if you charged something like 25p over paypal for one you'd have made over £30 already!
