Playing with my Canon 350D and the 55mm lens.f/5.6, 1/250, ISO 100.

I focused the lens on those flowers and the rest became blury. It's pretty simple, you should try it.

yep back in the old days (according to books) you smear the UV filter with vaseline to blur certain objects on the composition sorta like selective focusing
