Day 24 of the 25 Days of Christmas Challenge
Prompt: Xmas Eve

By the time Kuroo had returned after sending the rest of the guys back to the train station, you had already fallen asleep on the couch. He didn’t blame you, though. After all, having to deal with the Nekoma team plus Bokuto was tiring, but it must have been much more tiring for you, having to take over as the ‘mother’ of the squad due to the fact that Yaku wasn’t able to come for the Christmas Eve party. Maybe he should really act as the captain more often.

He had been looking forward to when you had some time alone after the party, because being the hopeless romantic he was, he wanted to spend a few hours celebrating both your birthday and Christmas Eve alone. Looks like that wasn’t happening…

Kuroo’s lips twitched into a smile as you mumbled incoherently in your sleep, his name barely able to be made out. What would he do without you?

Warming his hands, he scooped your smaller figure up in his arms, bridal style, before slowly making his way into the bedroom. Your hand clutched his shirt, body stiffening slightly as he struggled to open the door, as if you knew you were being carried and that he might drop you.

“Tetsu if you drop me I will kill you.” You say under your breath, and Kuroo’s eyes dart to yours. Maybe you were awake after all. And feisty.

His signature smirk spreads across his lips. “Oya? If I what?”

You gave him a deadpanned expression.

Kuroo laughed and finally eased the door open, gently laying you down on the bed. “Just kidding, kitten. I wouldn’t let you go.” Ever.

As he turned to leave however, your voice, quiet and soft in the dark room, stopped him. “Hey, stay with me.”

He blinked. “Why?”

“Because it’s my birthday and I want to cuddle, damn it Tetsu.”

Kuroo's deep laugh sent shivers down your spine as he climbed in beside you, long legs tangling with yours. You used his arm as a pillow when offered, and he pressed your face into his chest, resting his chin on your head.

"Are you happy now?" His arm was going to get numb soon, but he couldn't care less.

You hummed, because Kuroo was the best cuddle buddy in the world and you wouldn't trade him for anything. Kuroo buried his nose in your hair, softly inhaling your shampoo.

"Kitten." He said to your head, sending vibrations.

"Hm?"

"Happy birthday."

You smiled, closing your eyes and letting sleep drag you down to its depths. "Thank you for spending it with me."

Kuroo paused, listening as your breaths slowly evened out. "I love you."
