You were going to die by the hands of a headache. A throbbing headache, but still a headache. You said as much, wanting a little sympathy from your infuriating boyfriend - if could you still call him that as he laughs at your suffering.

Tsukishima doesn't offer any.

"How lame," comes his remark as he searches through the cardboards for the painkillers that are 'somewhere in the kitchen'.

He only continues. "But I'll be sure to spread the news."

You let out something between a groan and a scream, pressing your fingers to your temples. "Yeah okay. I'm really not up for this right now."

He makes a nonchalant sound, and you can almost hear him shrug noncommittally. "Guess leaving that assignment to the last minute really was a good decision, huh."

"Kei."

"But don't you think it's funny?"

“Shut—“

"You stay up late playing games all the time and don't get sick. But the one time you stay up to finish an assignment, you fall sick."

"Yes. I agree. It's so funny."

You glare at him as he walks through the open doorway into your room, almost collapsing with relief at the sight of the bottle of painkillers in his hand.

You make grabby motions with your hands, but he ignores them, turning his attention to the nutrient labels on the bottle instead. Was this supposed to make you feel better?

"Urgh, just give it to me and go away."

He looks up, and you can tell he wants to retort with something sarcastic, but something in your expression stops him. Your eyes hold a glassy sheen as you glare at him, and his previous demeanour fades. Well, not exactly, but it softens a fair bit.

He's quiet as he twists open the bottle of painkillers and pours two tablets on his palm. The sudden disappearance of his mocking voice stuns you to silence as you reach out a hand for the pills.

"What, are you going to swallow it without water?" He regards your open palm and holds out a cup of water. You blink, taking the cup from him. It's warm.

You open your mouth to thank him, but he wedges in another comment.

"You're still welcome to swallow it dry, though. Just try not to choke and die."

Ah, there's the Tsukishima you know.

You huff, but you can't help the hint of a smile dancing across your lips. "Why don't you try it first?"

He rolls his eyes, but his lips twitch with amusement that drops when you wince as your temples throb again. You know he tries to hide the concern in his gaze, but you see it anyway. It... Makes your heart feel lighter. He eyes the pills in your hand. "Just swallow them already."

And you do, lying back on your bed once you place the now empty cup on the nightstand. A few seconds are spent in silence; you staring at the ceiling, him staring at... Well, you wouldn't know. Then he pushes off the wall, making his way to the door. And you just... Don't really want that.

"Hey."

He stops at your call, glancing back at you. You pat the spot next to you on the bed.

"Stay with me."

His eyebrows arch. "Do you need me to babysit you?"

You sigh. You liked his snarky remarks, really - they were the reason you were so attracted to him in the first place - but you didn't really want them now.

"I just want you to stay with me," you repeat yourself slowly, and the pink that dusts your cheeks is... beautiful, he thinks.

He pauses, but really, he has no choice in this situation.

Red colours the apples of his cheeks as he lies down beside you on his side, and you turn towards him, immediately pressing your face to his chest and curling up against him.

"You better not get me sick," he mutters, but his arms fold around you anyway.

You close your eyes, breathing in the scent that's so distinctly him. "Shh, I'm trying to sleep."

He clucks his tongue softly, and you can't help but smile before tucking your head under his chin again.

You spend a few moments in silence before you decide that you shouldn't be keeping him from his studies. Besides, he wasn't too willing to stay down with you, was he?

So you open your mouth, but before a sound escapes, you close it again. Because all of a sudden you notice how relaxed his body is beside yours.

Your eyes widen, and you quietly pull back just the slightest to look at him. His golden hues are shielded by his closed eyelids, and his breaths are even and comforting.

He... Fell asleep.

You get the sudden urge to grab your phone and capture this tranquil moment - capture the open expression that you rarely ever see on his face. He looks ten times more charming.

Carefully, you reach up to remove his glasses from the bridge of nose to put them on the bedside table so that he wouldn't break them in his sleep, cringing when his eyelids flutter.

Your eyes shift back to the teenager, and you find yourself marvelling at his features.

For some reason, this feels... Oddly intimate. Warmth rises to your face, and it's with a mix of brashness and shyness that you stretch up to peck his lips before pressing your face to his chest again. The steady beat of his heart tells you that he's still asleep.

Then you remember. You're... sick.

Inwardly, you groan, hoping that he doesn't catch any of your sickness from that one kiss. Or from how close the both of you are now.

Maybe you'll just sleep, and forget that you ever kissed him.
