Would it still be durable if you have to use cardboard?

As long as it's corrugated it would probably still be v durable. The only problem is you will have to find a way to overcome the ridges that corrugated cardboard makes!

So, I'm on the first gear thing, and I just finished xactoing the notches. The cuts are not smooth enough for my liking, is there any ways to make them smoother?
π: 0 β©: 1
deerlette In reply to CloudCaramel [2015-01-10 22:22:42 +0000 UTC]
Definitely! Run and get yourself a couple pieces of sandpaper :0! I'd start with a rougher sandpaper first and then a finer one. Then just sand the edges until they are smooth enough for your liking :0!!!

One last question! Since I don't have any spray paint, and I can't get any, what else could I use to paint my timetables?

What if you are cheap and using either styrofoam borads like the thik styrofoam not foam boards of Β poster borad would it still work and if so how would you recomend it
π: 0 β©: 1
deerlette In reply to Toby-Arai [2014-07-25 17:05:19 +0000 UTC]
hmmmmm, i think that, structurally, it would be fine and that it would work, however styrofoam has a weird visual texture. I don't think it would look nearly as clean as the foam board route! That being said you could always figure out a way to smooth the surface...
but yeah! It could definitely work! IT just might not look as nicely done :0!!

Just at a record store near my university! I'm sure you could find a record or music store near you... if not, the records on amazon/ebay can be pretty cheap too if you look hard enough ^^ hope that helps

gahhh thank The Lord jegus I found this! I've been looking for an easy to follow guide on Dave's TurnTables for my Cosplay.
Just one question, when using records, should you glue the records down or no?

I definitely would secure them to the gears in some fashion! Whether you use glue, spray mount, or whatever. Otherwise they'll move around a lot and be a hassle to carry around at cons and meetups

I actually started making a pair last night (ran out of poster board and it's raining/snowing, so I can't really finish it at this time) and it's going great so far! Thank's for the tutorial!

That was amazing. But, do you think you could make me a pair? I could pay at least $20US Dollars. I have a really tight schedule with school, work, and all of that. Please respond asap ^_^

Unfortunately I have a broken arm at the moment, not to mention I don't take prop commissions! Sorry, but I'm sure you can find a cosplay prop commissioner somewhere! Maybe on cosplay.com or in some forum :0

I use a lot of x-acto knives to box cutters and so I read the x-acto part like 'ah yeah no biggie'.
I FREAKING SLICED MY FINGER PRETTY DAMN GOOD
I was so mad I had to lay down
Actually it was because there was so much blood I almost fainted
