Description Decided to do something I hadnt done in a while. Draw something in ballpoint pen. Considering its been about 8 years since I did something like this, I'm pretty happy about it.

Scene inspired by Dinosaur Revolution.
I dont have a scanner any more so I had to photograph it which sadly caused it to loose some ink detail. But all in all im happy with it

Medium: ballpoint pen then gray done in photoshop

Also, epic drawing. Shows us Rex's more sensitive side.

I liked DR. It's humor and characters made it unique, and not another carbon-copy of Walking with Dinosaurs.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who really liked that show! Gah, why did they have to cancel it?? Even if it was speculative, it was one of the ONLY Dinosaur shows that actually had great CGI..

This is lovely, an aspect of dinosaurs that's hardly ever shot...

Not to mention that it had the most anatomically accurate dinosaur models on screen....

BTW it's been re-released as a film titled Dinotasia (Augh! Can't they use the original title "Reign of the Dinosaurs" instead of inventing a shitty ass one?!?!?!): [link] Not much is known about it aside from the fact it's been released in the UK and the re-cut, sadly, wasn't exactly met with warm reception by critics, who cited the uneven effects quality, loose storytelling structure, cartoony personification of the animals and the lack of real educational value as its main drawbacks (Obviously they are ignorant that it was meant to be fiction, anyone with 1/4 of a brain would already know that when watching it ), though some reviewers claimed they found its bizarreness amusing in a weird sort of way.

Oh awesome!!! THank you so much for the link and stuffs!!

and yeah... I mean there's only so much "accuracy" people can get about dinosaur behavior as it is so I don't get why they are making such a hooplah about it... I mean, I went through a dino binge and watched like... 12 different documentaries and most of them were awful-- either the animation was really sub par, OR they just kept reusing the same scenes 6 times in one episode. I wish they had finished the series but maybe this film will survive!

I will keep on the lookout for it!

Yeah. I find it hypocritical when people whine and bitch about Dinosaur Revolution's anthropomorphic dinosaurs but they don't complain that many other shows depicts dinosaurs as monsters...:/. In fact what I liked about Dinosaur Revolution is that it's humornand characters make it unique, not just another Walking with Dinosaurs copycat. While it is true that Dinosaur Revolution had some facepalm moments (including the mosasaur segment, which depicts mosasaurs with parental care and whale sounds), other dino docs aren't any much better anyway (or even worse). Here's several examples (for give me for the incoming wall of text ):

-ALMOST EVERY single part of Clash of the Dinosaurs. Loads of bullshit made up by the program (especially the scene where 2 puny dog-sized Deinonychus killing a juvenile Sauroposeidon the size of a house). Worse is that they QUOTE-MINED (twisting someone's words) a paleontologist! (to be more specific, Dangerous Ltd., the guys who made Clash of the Dinosaurs twisted Matt Wedel's words to make it seem like he supported the outdated notionof sauropods having 2 brains when he's actually AGAINST it!) For more info, check this out: [link] Not to mention in the sequel Last Day of the Dinosaurs, they recycled the Deinonychus and Sauroposeidon models for Sauronithoides and Alamosaurus.

-The Spinosaurus episode of Monsters Resurrected/Mega Beasts. It says that Spinosaurus grew up to 60 feet long as if it's an absolute fact when it's NOT (that figure is based on Dal Sasso's estimate of a jaw fragment, and even if one scales it properly, one would get a 46-50 foot long animal, not 60 feet), depicting Spinosaurus with the wrong skull and overhyping Spino as the ultimate killing machine (including depicting it capable of lifting up a 30 foot long Rugops and clawing a Sarcosuchus which live millions of years earlier than Spino ) when in reality it's more likely that it behaved more like a giant heron (OK, herons are pretty nasty predators, but still). Not to mention they gave the abelisaurid Rugops a carnosaurian body . Thankfully the Acrocanthosaurus episode was much better, but they errornously depicted Deinonychus to be completely scaly and have pronated hands (palms that face downward, a posture impossible for theropods).

Many other dino docs also have tons of errors, but none of them are as notorious as these.

DUDE I REMEMBER SEEING THAT SPINO EPISODE! And I was like wait... WATT? I thought it was a giant fisher???

Yeah.... people are jerks :c What also bothers me in many dino movies is they make them seem impervious to pain and minor injury? Especially the predators, even if they are huge and scary, are not going to risky stupid injuries. Like when T Rex just kicked through a brick wall to get to the pool? I doubt it wouldn't feel ANY pain from that. I honestly think it would step over it.

But yay!! I has a friend that will defend realistic dinos! Or at least, not the same cliches over and over again

TyrannosaurusPrime In reply to OkiRose [2012-06-19 12:05:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I think the movie you're talking about is The Lost World: Jurassic Park, as there is a scene which the male T. Rex knocked down a brick wall to get to a swimming pool for water during his rampage in San Diego. Yes, that scene was unrealistic, but that's nothing compared to the scene in Jurassic Park III where a Spinosaurus uses it's head to smash through a tall metal fence to get to the humans! (I bet that Spinosaurus had a massive headache afterwards....)

OkiRose In reply to TyrannosaurusPrime [2012-06-19 15:03:02 +0000 UTC]

haha yeah all 3 of those movies made the dino's a little too monster-like. Like I doubt the Spino and the T rex would have fought at all, more made displays and then backed off. Big predators rarely are willing to risk injury like that.

TyrannosaurusPrime In reply to OkiRose [2012-06-19 15:20:45 +0000 UTC]

Totally agree. Not to mention predators don't roar when they're chasing their prey, unlike in the JP films or most other depictions of dinosaurs in the media. (So far, Dinosaur Revolution and Planet Dinosaur managed to avoid this error most of the time)
