Description
Another character design from my gestating project of adapting the descriptions of characters from both iconic and underknown fantasy stories. The first was Severian from Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun (which has become my favorite thing ever written). I have about 30 of these character pieces planned- though as stated previously, I want to be patient and draw these when I have the time and motivation to do so- a lot of them appear in books I have yet to read and descriptions online are scarce, so it will take time.

So, without saying more, here is The Horned King from Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain! It's a series I have not gotten into yet, though it's on my immediate reading list. For a refresher, The Horned King is the main antagonist of Disney's adaptation of Alexander's The Black Cauldron, though from what I understand, his presence in The Book of Three is much more minimal than in the animated film. More akin to one of the big Orc leaders in LOTR than a main villain.

Had a lot of fun designing this dude- really wanted to put some of that Celtic influence from the book's mythological sources as well as an ancient Pagan flair where I could.
