My first deviation in a long long time. I am on a mission to prepare a portfolio with at least 10 pieces worthy of showing to an art director at some thing or something...to find work as a concept designer, science adviser, or illustrator. On with the back story behind this image. Since I was about 13 years old I'd had the idea for a 3rd person shooter game about a guy who goes to an alien planet to prevent its destruction and it was tied together with about 5 other epic stories. I've refined them all now, nine years later, into a 5 part science fiction epic.

I) Axonites evolve on earth before it collides with orpheus, then escape via a means revealed later.

Billions of years later, humans evolve on earth 2 and begin exploring their solar system. Eventually they build the first interstellar space craft and send a one way one man mission to an alien planet 30 lightyears away to make first contact with the quetripoids.

II) Earth undergoes a revolution in cybernetics which leads to 95% of the human population suddenly leaving earth without a trace and stranding the remaining 5% of cultists, moralists, and sentimentalists on earth to slowly go extinct.

III) Three alien entities of immense power consecutively attempt to assimilate all the humans stranded on earth and are defeated by mysterious and inexplicable forces.

IV) For nearly a thousand years after the abandonment of earth, the stranded cultures had been struggling for centuries to relearn science and slowly relinquish their primitive beliefs in the supernatural but at every step of the way squashed by the cult elites. Wars had been waged over the practicing of empiricism as a philosophy.

V) A super-luminal ship utilizing an alcubierre warp drive type propulsion system is discovered orbiting the planet jupiter by Empiricists, captured, rebuilt, and used to discover the axonite colony on the far side of the galaxy. The axonites offer the empiricists refuge through the wormhole in Jupiter.

This image is about part II. This image is of a space suit which the one man on the one way mission wears. This suit reveals the layer above the air tight temperature and pressure controlled layer. It is the exoskeletal exomusculature which grants the wearer enhanced strength and speed without modification of the basic physiology of the wearer.

The artificial muscles are constructed with nano-technology and can self diagnose and self repair any damage. The suit can even walk about even if the wearer is unconscious, rescuing the wearer from a dangerous situation. The suits intelligence stand alone is equal to that of a child but it capable of performing procedural behaviors which can protect the wearer from injury, such as guarding the wearer in ways appropriate to the circumstances by making critical decisions very quickly.

An outer later provides a second buffer of protection to the normal abrasive/corrosive elements in the alien environment such as dense thorny underbrush, jagged rocks, volcanic glass, insect bites, biological agents, etc. It also has an embedded tactical defensive armor which is rated to resist knife attacks and a shot fired from the 50 caliber riffle at 200 meters.
