Sorry for the long absence but I’ve been busy with things lately. Luckily, a lot of new discoveries happened in my absence in which in my favorite, a new tyrannosaur was discovered.
Moros interpidus is a pantyrannosaur from the late Cretaceous of Utah. Known from only a partial back limb and 2 teeth, it likely was related to other asian tyrannosaurs like Timurlengia and Xionggualong. This also shows that Moros or its ancestors immigrated from Asia into North America during a biotic interchange. When it arrived, it faced competition from local carnivores like the allosauroid Siats. Afterward, the allosauriods died out and the tyrannosaurs took over as the top predators and grew larger and evolved to take on there prey. Moros is a unique tyrannosaur because it sheds light on a poorly understood moment in tyrannosaur evolution. Hopefully more of this species is discovered later in in the future..
