Technicaly they do have toes. Although they have five toes, only two on each foot have claws.

I wouldn't use Eva as an example of what possable in the fandom. She acturly fits into it quite well.
The possability is when characters set theirs up in relationships with existing character. Even SEGA pushed that limit with Riders.
Jet who matches Sonic and Shadow in everyway; Wave who matches Tails and Robotnik in everyway; and Storm who matchs Knuckles in everyway (and Omega, but Knuckles's counter parts change).
It's like they picked out three fanfics and put them into a game O_O

I accually heard a Rumor Jet was based off a fancharacter

Nope, never heard that. I remember that original SA2 Shadow wasn't going to be playable but was because fan demand wanted Tails Playable, so they gave him Robotniks play style and Shaodw and Rouge with their counterparts.
although I remember Shadow was meant to ahve acturly been based on a Tenrec, an animal found to have black fur with red stripes, referad to as a "fake hedgehog" and that his development name was meant to be 'Terios'.

Well I still like him. What I don't like is the fan depiction of him. Although hopefully they'll work his character out better.
SA2 was mostly his arrogance and learning that he may not be the only Ultimate Lifeform (he referance to Sonic), and gaining respect for Sonic.
Heroes made him more, emo-ish
Shadow - bit more emo, and adding lots of angst. but Finaly resolving everything.
Then SONIC... it's more focused on his friendship with Rouge and Omega... well I think.
Now SEGA have a new game being made and they've said. All you need to know is SA1 and SA2... you don't need to know ANYHTING about Heroes onwards to get it. So that might mean the guy wont be conintuing the downwards path.
...and yeah, I know too many Shadow fangirls. To think once I knew more Knuckles fangirls.
