Almost all of my turtles were bought from a local fish store, I like to keep thinking that they've been "rescued" from their dark, dirty temporary tanks and moldy styrofoam boxes.

Aww. :c Mine was from Pneumonia, but I eventually know it was from Vitamin A deficiency.
I've done so many research and be familiar with as many turtle health conditions as possible, but I don't remember reading about sudden paralysis or causes that could paralyze turtles. I looked up for articles about tortoise/turtle paralysis and I got a list of common or likely causes;
- Birth defects or born-defected immune system that attacks the turtle/tortoise's body because of responding to a bacteria incorrectly.
- Living on diets/environments that doesn't contain the most essential nutrient(s) such as Calcium or Vitamin D3 for a long time.
- Major Accidents like falling that could damage the spine or legs | Series of fighting against other turtle/tortoise.
- The venom of snakes or spiders.
I read that those who had their turtle/tortoise recovered was when they knew it was a venom bite.

You're absolutely welcome. ^^ My experience helped me cure my turtles' illnesses three times so far, I'm proud to be able to learn something from my first failure.
(Was that Cuttle fish, Cuttle fish bone block or the actual cuttlefish?) As long as he gets lots of sunlight, he'll be able to absorb Calcium easily from dark leafy greens.
He could be more interested in the feeling of veggies instead of blocks or crunchy things, but always experiment. My turtles could hate pellets for what it tastes like or if it gets too wet quickly, so I always keep note of which brand they enjoy the most.
