I just want to say that this was amazing. Bopal is my favorite pairing, and your date for them was exactly what I would have expected in canon. And their sparring was great, and Bolin facing how dangerous his abilities are, but Opal still loves him anyway! It's hard to find fanfics that give these two real attention and development as a couple without having them fight, and this was just what I've been looking for! Thank you so much for writing it!

You're very welcome! And thank you so much for this comment! You have no idea how good this makes me feel that someone says that I wrote actual "good" fan-fiction!
This was especially satisfying for me to write because by the time I was finished, I felt like I had seen an actual episode of The Legend of Korra. It's so fun to write these things and I'm glad someone appreciates the work that went into it. I wanted to focus on the romance of these characters, but I also wanted this story to feel like it's actually part of the world of Avatar.
I love the Romance genre, but I hate how most romances bog things down by having the two characters hate each other or have a misunderstanding. The whole point of a good romance is to show two people in love and how their love for each other defines them, and if they run into problems, rather than drawing them apart, they learn to support each other and work through their conflict.
In a sense, there is a third act conflict that gets in the way of them when Bolin burns Opal's legs with lavabending, but that's more of an "accident" than a "misunderstanding" and I tried to make it feel a little bit more natural. And they don't instantly hate each other as a result, rather they both think that the other person is upset at them.
My favorite moment is the very end when they're talking on the roof of the Pro-Bending Arena. I like that Opal realizes the problems with their relationship are just as much her fault as they are his. As oblivious as Bolin was to Kuvira's plans, Opal also was partly to blame for being angry and uncompromising to him. That was something I think that Book Four missed out on pointing out. This moment really gives a great redemption for both of them to forgive each other and set things right with their love.
If you're interested in checking out the rest of this series, I post a new chapter every Friday. Stay tuned for Chapter Three this Friday!
