I really like his expression! And it's very realistic too. I think the neck doesn't really suit the rest of the portrait, maybe because it's not detailed as the face, but overall, it's great

Beautiful and disturbing. The palette knife technique gives a raw, three-dimensionality that makes the face pop. I'm not convinced of the roughed in neck though. I'd like to see a smoother transition in styles. At this point the head and neck seem dislocated, which would be fine in a more contemporary piece in which that is the focus, but I sense you are a traditionalist in the old school, so I sense a dissonance in the whole. I want to tell you to push it in one direction or the other . . . but to commit to it.
