It looks to me that she was caught in cross-fire or something like that with all the pits on her face...or some kind of accident. And if you look really closely, it looks like she's missing an eyelid; thus, the glasses, I'd imagine.

THANK YOU, DA, for actually choosing a picture of a woman for something other than being "hot and sexy" for once!! You'd almost forget it was possible for a woman to be something other than that considering all the art of women you usually choose.

What an extraordinary image. I can't think of the life this woman had and how she carries herself at this age... In very close examination I conclude that has more in her that seems to be the case... she in fact wearing contemporary prescription glasses with some tinting. I can even see a reflection of the photographer in the lens. Her eye looks creepier than it really is because the lens distorts her eye a bit and the reflection on the lens increase the impression of the size of her eyeball... the main feature of this image, in my view, is not the eye, but rather the stark contrast between the skin and the obvious decay of her Jaw structure due to loss of her teeth and gums against the lively, colorful and ornamental head shawl... I can get lost in this image... the word amazing is overused here, but I am truly honestly amazed.

Youth and beauty are fleeting , I'm sure if she were 16 we would be in awe of her beauty, grace, kindness ! Don't blame old one's for what life has dealt them , a warm smile and kind word can help lift the heavy burden of life, if for just that moment . And don't forget , it's our turn now !

Of all of todays Daily Deviations I enjoyed this one the most. At first I honestly thought this was one of those doll pics. The focus is so set that it makes it appear like so to me. I wonder how many years she's been alive!
