But we where young and unafraid,
And dreams where made and used an wasted.
There was no song unsung,
No treasure to far away.
And in a different world,
We would still be young,
Because we are all young,
In such an old and painful world.

It's easy to look at some kids and see them as a younger version of yourself or someone you know, especially if that older person is their relative. While this makes it simple to relate and help them through their problems, it's also in a Β way kind of limiting and possibly damaging to that child's self-esteem and growth. Depending on how we feel about that 'older version', we might treat the child better or worse than they deserve.
In "Dreamscaperers", Stan admits to seeing himself in Dipper, which is how he justifies his treatment. However, "Tale of Two Stans" shows that of the two, Dipper was more like Ford in a way, at least openly. It's implied that the reason Stan is so rough with Dipper is because he sees what he's disliked about the original Mystery Twins; his own low self-esteem, covered by bluster and cynicism, and Ford's intellectual pursuits- which Stan possibly sees as the source of schism. On the other spectrum, Mabel seems to personify the what Stan misses from his childhood, such as random bouts of imagination (Like Ford assuming a wrecked ship belonged and is haunted by pirates), and a generally goofy personality. This may be why he's so affectionate with Mabel. But being so one-sided in his treatment has had repercussions. Because he never showed Dipper much affection, their relationship is extremely rocky, with Dipper willing to think the worst of Stan at a given notice. Mabel, on the other had, has had her ego built up so much she rarely takes time for reflection, which slowly erodes the young Twins' bond.
This picture implies that the opposite is happening with Ford, seeing Mabel as a mini-Stan in the making. Judging from his expression, he's worried that Mabel might end up like Stan someday, too dependent on her 'other half' to function. In the show proper, he's rarely shown any sign of disliking Mabel at all; when they first meet, his reaction is "I like this girl, she's weird!" non-ironically, and seems to believe that her magnetic personality would help her get through being separated from Dipper. If he's rough with her, it's out of necessity, not meanness or a laugh at her expense. (Like shutting down her thought about Wizard School in "The Last Mabelcorn" because he needs to warn them about Bill). While he spends a lot of time with Dipper, and sees his own thirst for answers and knowledge reborn in the kid, I don't think he's had enough time with Mabel to really understand her complexities.
In short, putting a generic label on someone, arbitrarily calling them the "Good" guy or "Bad", is both insulting and limiting to that person and yourself. If you chose to focus on the one aspect of a person that you like/dislike, you end neglecting to see their whole character.

Who cares about Ford? He is worst judge of character since he alienated his younger brother and college roommate and willingly trusted an alien shapeshifter and a chaos god despite knowing Bill could be dangerous due to the warning. He might have experimented on the Experiment 210 when it was a baby.

He was concerned for the well being of Dipper & Mabel well before Weirdmageddon.(Dungeons, Dungeons & More Dungeons). Ford immediately connected with the two twins.

Was that before or after he lied about his relationship with Bill, not telling Mabel about the rift or allowing his brother to be mind controlled?

I hope there will be a Ford and Mabel moment. Dipper already got to spend some time with both Grunkles. Although I can't help but wonder how Ford reacts to Mabel's amazing personality...

I've heard that Gravity Falls was planned out to be 3 seasons long at least. And with its popularity I can't see why not.

I heard that too, but then Alex said that they stuffed what was supposed to be season 3 into the second half of season 2. I don't know, I really hope there's a season 3

I think there IS going to be a third season, they just haven't announced when it's coming out. Also, there's going to be a character death in season 2--the three most common guesses as to who it's going to be are either McGucket, Stan and Bill Cipher (I'm hoping it's Bill and not McGucket or Stan--or anybody else in the Pines family).

There might be, since the show is popular and it must be milked.
Also, if there's season 3, Stan might "die" in this season, and they'll save him in the next. It's sad, for a while, but I don't mind as long as they save him in a new season.
If Bill dies, then I guess that's it, they defeated him, and there's no point in continuing. Unless they have a bigger enemy in store?

They're going to have to defeat Bill eventually--if they aren't going to defeat Bill inΒ a season finale, hopefully it will be in the series finale. Also, even before Bill came onto the scene, there were lots of adversaries for the Mystery Shack-gang--plus, all the weird things going on in Gravity Falls should be enough to keep them busy.

Sure there are many weird things there, but they do need a bigger enemy, or it's just running around defeating the likes of gnomes in every ep.
