Another Pokémon drawing for my Portfolio. These are Gyarados and Milotic and their respective pre-evos, Magikarp and Feebas.

Gyarados is a Water/Flying type Kanto Pokémon who is the evolved form of the mono Water type Magikarp, a Pokémon known for being one of the worst Pokémon of all time due to its pathetic stats (except its decent speed) and horrible movepool. Magikarp is very common, and can be fished with an old rod in almost any body of water in most Pokémon games. Upon evolving at level 20, Magikarp becomes a lot stronger than before. Gyarados has very high Attack, good defenses, specially considering its access to Intimidate, and decent speed (which is almost the same as Magikarp, surprinsingly). Gyarados also has a vast movepool, containing powerful options such as Waterfall, Dragon Dance, Ice Fang, Earthquake, Stone Edge and even has a Dark/Water type mega evolution in gens 6 and 7. Gyarados has been a good competitive OU Pokémon in most gens, including gens 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. It wasn't very good in the first two gens due the lack of a physical water type move, but it was good in UU as far as I know.

Milotic is a mono water type Hoenn Pokémon, and is the evolved form of Feebas, a Pokémon which would be almost as pathetic as Magikarp if it wasn't for its greater movepool, with access to the typical water and ice type TMs such as Surf and Ice Beam. Unlike its cousin, finding and evolving Feebas way more convoluted. In gen 3 and 4 it can only be found in specific tiles of Water, and it can only evolve with its beauty stat maxed out, making the process of getting Milotic way more annoying. Such struggle is worth it though, since Milotic is a pretty good Pokémon. It is more defensive than Gyarados, with a much higher Special Defense and with higher Special Attack. Its movepool is more limited than Gyarados, but it still learns some good moves such as Scald, Surf, Recover and Ice Beam. A rather generic movepool for a Water type, which is not really a problem because Milotic does the Water type role really well in some competitive gens. In gen 3, Milotic and fellow Water types such as Swampert and Suicune were the main bulky water types, and acted as defensive cores for many teams to fight against threats such as Metagross and Salamence.

Gyarados and Milotic could be seen as counterparts in a way, due to the many traits they share, such as a very weak pre evo, serpentine anatomy and same base stat total (540).
