From "Angelica" by Sharon Shinn. It's my favorite fantasy/sci-fi/romance book ever. Reading it always makes me so happy inside! Actually, the whole Samaria series is awesome, but Angelica was my first and my favorite.

Thank you! It's part of a series called "Samaria". "Angelica" is the fourth book, but first n the time line, if that makes any sense. The first book is called "Archangel" if you're interested.
