So one day I was EXTREMELY frustrated, sleep deprived, and creative-minded... so I went into an almost half-meditative trance as I drew this, and when I "woke up" and realized what was on my screen I KNEW I had to finish it. Despite the fact that it looks nothing like him, it appeared in my mind as a representation of Saku.This was made entire in GIMP from the sketch, to the line art, to the coloring. Also, the background was painted entirely by me, though I'll admit I used a texture effect and the blurred and changed the color. It started out all very sandy-colored then I changed it to purple since the last time I did a "meditative drawing" it ended up being my "mindscape" in which everything was a deep purple-like color anyway... And then I rediscovered that I absolutely LOATH shading yellow! Even more than dark blue!
Anyhow, this is a REALLY personal piece, and there's really not much more I could say than that... but I am SO pleased with this, despite its age, that I would favorite it if I could favorite my own stuff. XD and that's saying a lot since I wouldn't favorite most of my gallery!!

I really like this one, and I can see how it could be Saku. Maybe it's just the angry and wary energy coming off of it. I like the fur coloring especially, and the claws/spikes.

I don't really like the blond hair, but maybe it's just because it looks so stiff. I agree that the gray wouldn't look right.

I like the green, even though it doesn't seem like it would fit, I think it does.
Is the underside of the front, left paw supposed to be glowing?

Whoops, I didn't get this until just now since you replied to yourself, and I hadn't looked over this piece again until just now.
Yeah, that was one of the major problems about using yellow - the fact that I couldn't get any texture from it for some reason. Also no, the paw is not supposed to be glowing - nothing that I'm aware of is glowing...
As far as anatomy goes, I think this is, by far, one of my very best pieces. Especially due to the fact that I had NO references when I sketched and drew this. Mera ( *meradragon ) gave me some critique, but I think the only things I changed based on that was the shape / size of the tail, the positioning of the ears and making the fur on the neck actually go OVER the scapulae and therefore cancel them out all together so far as drawing them went... oh, and she suggested that I shape the left side of the face a tiny bit differently. Other than that, though... the hands, body shape, legs, coloring, muscle definition... all me. :3 And I find it absolutely amazing that I was able to just... draw that up so spontaneously when I usually can't draw hands for beans, and would NEED a reference for such an action-y pose. Shows you just what can be done when you're not paying attention, ney?

Well, since Saku seems to have become the official representation / manifestation of my anger, it fits him well... but I really think it's the hair that resembles him most. However, the silver-grey just didn't seem to fit with this picture in my mind ( I never tried it - I went for a dirty-blonde right off )...
Aye, the claws were really fun. The spikes not so much fun, but I still like the added touch it gives the creature. Interesting that you should mention "wary", though, because I didn't notice it before, but this definitely isn't an entirely confrontational pose, it actually has some submissive gestures in it, too... I never noticed that!
