When I was in Malaysia, I had an umbrella with me where ever I went. I was often mistaken for an Englishman, but because of the sudden downpours and the heat almost year around, you had to have an umbrella. The only time umbrellas did not help in rain is when the downpour was so heavy it could almost break your umbrella. We don't see that kind of rain in the US, but it happens often in Malaysia. Your picture reminds me of Singapore and some parts of Kuala Lumpur. I like it and the message--it's quite encouraging.

Thank you~ Yes, I remember that kind of rain too - it could come really suddenly, and only for maybe two minutes, but it would be heavy enough to drench you in no time! You can't walk around in the tropics without an umbrealla! And even with an umbrella you're not necessarily safe!!

I'm sure I'd use an umbrella against the sun too, if it weren't looked at as weird. (Or reminding people of Michael Jackson. )

lol I didn't know it would remind people of Michael Jackson. I walk around with an umbrella in the sun anyway... even though here in the West I'm the only one. But I was inspired by my Chinese teacher: she told me she was in Europe as a tourist once and feeling extremely hot but didn't dare to use her umbrella because no one else did. So I'm sort of doing it for people like her too. But the locals over here don't understand.
