Normally I'm against redesigns but she looks like her OoT form that it looks real nice. Also I kind of suspected being a bodygaurd and such she'd have a FEW scars with assassination attempts/kidnap attempts to thwart etc. Also I think she's probably in her late 20s early 30s as she's the youngest looking version of Impa in any of the games she's in -shudders as I remember the 'Shrek" form from the Oracle games-

Idk about Impas age... Honestly I haven't played the gameboy games so I wouldn't know hold old she is in Oracle of ages/seasons, but even though she's big doesn't mean she's all that old. I think there are both arguments for and against Impa being of a certain age. One of the things being how long she's been protecting Zelda, which is ever since she was a baby. Ocarina of Time wasn't all that detailed, you gotta admit that. All the adult characters look the same after 7 years so Impa could be older than she looks. I can't say I have an idea as to what age she is, but I think she's older than you'd expect.
That said, can I ask why you normally dislike designs? Have you stumbled upon a lot of bad redesigns or interpretations of your favourite characters in styles that don't suit them? Or do you simply think a character is fixed and shouldn't be messed with? For my part, I like redesigns because I like seeing people's different interpretations of how characters would look if more realistic or in a different time and the like.

Actually the Oracle games are part of another timeline than the Ocarina of Time game so its not the same Impa in those games. I just didnt like her design in those games.
As for redesigns yeah I stumbled on some bad ones and I've also seen alot of "hey lemme redesign this character..... AS A PONY HUR HUR" ugh..... I dont think a character's design should be 'fixed'. There can be an 'official' design to base redesigns off of sure but nothing in this world is ever 'fixed'

Ah like that. Well I can only speak on my own behalf, but I wouldn't ever try to fix a character by redesigning. When I do redesign a character it's more like... "Hey this would look cool" or "This way it looks more modern" or something. Like... following a particular theme and changing a character according to that just for experimenting. Fixing? No. Never. The characters I redesign are often some of my favourite characters of all time and they're perfect as they are.

Yeah that's another thing I have issues with. I seem to end up liking characters that noone draws enough of which is a shame. It also doesn't help some of them are from obscure games and such. Though I gotta ask would redesigning an obscure character be hard or easy? I have one I wouldn't mind seeing drawn in your style as it looks really good

The character I had in mind was Anne Sirena from an obscure DS game called Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier (I THINK that's its full name. I call it Endless Frontier for short). She's a mermaid pirate and captian of the gang of pirates she calls the Sirena Pirates. She's a minor character in the game who helps you after you beat her in battle by lending you her ship and acting as a store. You fight her again later in the game due to plot reasons.

But ah... I don't know, I doubt I'll be doing it anytime soon. You see I have a lot of ideas myself and very little time. And doing this for you wouldn't be fair neither because I don't take requests - only commissions. So it would be weird if I drew something that I have no knowledge of whatsoever because it was requested.
Now, I'm not trying to make you buy stuff from me but you should know that if you want something drawn by me it always goes through commissions (and on rare ocassions: art trades). I don't have a lot of money you see, so I do commissions to pay for necessities like... getting my cat sterilized (Which I seriously need to because she's just a teenage-kitten and she's pregnant. I don't think she'll handle giving birth...)
At any rate, I would be more than willing to take a commission from you when my exams are over if you're interested in any way, but I understand if you're not as I haven't ever commissioned anyone myself.

I understand. I have an artist I do commission myself (she's closed up shop for abit now). I am kinda limited moneywise so I cant just buy all the ideas in my head to paper hehe

I wasn't sure what age to give her, and Impa HAS been used in a lot of Zelda games - even though she's clearly never the same person. I wanted her too look both young and old actually, to show that she's in some way age-less.

I'm digging her hair. And her sleeves, heh, I can see the Sheik-ness there. I never thought about it before, but for being of the same race (or at least pretending to) Impa and Sheik's outfits didn't really.... coincide all that much did they?
And I love the age you can see in her skin. From the moles to the little pores to the slight wrinkling of her forehead. And yet she still looks fit enough to mop the floor with your face.

Well I did see some similarities, but they were few. But I like it in a way, because Impa was supposed to look more feminine than Sheik so her armour was fitting for her chest and whatever, while Sheik's clothes were made to bring out his manly physique like his chest.
But at the same time.... they didn't seem to resemble each other THAT much. I think they might've made Impa a little too knight-like compaired to Sheik, but the reason for that could be that Impa is the bodyguard of Zelda - She's famous even. Sheik is supposed to be an unknown character.. I think. So it makes sense for Sheik to look like someone who's used to hiding, while Impa doesn't look all that much like that.
