This is beautiful! Simply breathtaking. I love the use of the bright sky and the dark, beautiful blue of the hills. The central postitioning of the pole is also very effective, and the lone bird on the left... It all comes together to make a simply stunning image. I was going to write a critique, but that implies that there is something to be improved on. If there is anything to be improved on here, I cannot see it! If I could give this three thumbs up, I would.

May I ask how you did this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

denkyo In reply to djailledie [2009-09-15 19:37:59 +0000 UTC]

sure! I took two photos: One with the mountains and the sky, the other pic with the electricity-post, farm and valley etc.. After combining those two, I drew the birds one by one with my mouse in Photoshop. The rest is some standard darkroom-postwork, really.

By the way, do you use photoshop from time to time?

Well done!
Nope. Photoshop Element 2.0. Now raw. Never more than 10mn of processing - when nothing works. I try to do as much as I can in camera, which is exposure and composition.

I really adore your ability to do so. Because you do it the "classical" way, your pictures have a lot of authencity in them. that's what makes them so special (and nice!)

Thanks a lot. Maybe if I knew how to use Photoshop, I would use it more!

feel free to ask me anything about Photoshop! I'm not an expert, but I think I got to know some good tricks and methods through the usage ^^

Stunning, but why is the sky so bright and the are hills so dark?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

denkyo In reply to le-trou-noir [2009-09-09 20:00:56 +0000 UTC]

because it's a photomanipulation, as indicated by the category^^ I thought it'd look better that way, some sorta contrast, you know... but don't you like it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

le-trou-noir In reply to denkyo [2009-09-13 22:00:04 +0000 UTC]

yes it's a contrast but I think it would be nicer with a dark
sky , because than you see the birds and the mist better

you are right, it's pretty hard to see them now... I might change it. anyway, I'm gonna try it out, let you know if I get a result

thanks a lot for the critique!

The left birdie is in the zone of trees, more nature it seems and looks more peaceful that way. the crowd of birdies on the right on the other hand seems to be in the residence and industrial area and looks as if it has lost its beauty. to me anyway
