Description For Bifrost 's Nursery Rhyme Project - typical of me to squeak it in at the last moment, when the project's been open since March or April!

It's based on the nonsense rhyme by Edward Lear:
The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey,
and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.

The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are, You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

Done with a 0.4mm ballpoint on a 5x3 inch cue card (that's why there's a hole in the corner), with dabs of white paint from a paint-marker. No pencils, no drafting, just pen. Art doesn't have to be expensive! This style is normally reserved for doodling at school...this is the first time I've actually finished something in it.

Hey! You're better than me! I missed the deadline cause there's no way I'm getting something drawn by tonight! lol. I hadn't seen any of the project pics yet - this looks awesome. I love the way the ink came out!

Thanks! I thought I was going to miss the deadline too so I'm really pleased I got something out! The problem with this technique is that it can only be used for tiny drawings - any bigger, and it will take simply ages to finish. I like to draw, but when it consists of tedious unthinking hatching for hours on end, well...it's just not my cup of tea.

You know, I didn't know what it was but I instantly thought of a children's story when I saw the thumbnail, and then when I read your description, well, it's simple and beautiful.

The complete rhyme is wonderful - it goes on the describe their travels in their boat!
