Description

As of 24/03/2023, the date this was published, the final episode of 'Pokemon Journeys: The Series' has premiered and concludes the adventures of Ash & Pikachu. So who else to illustrate for entry #118, the very best like no one ever was, it's Pikachu! This idea has been on the books for a good while, it was just a matter of picking the right time to do it. Despite that, it feels like the most traditional piece I've illustrated of the whole franchise. Pikachu's design is pretty simple, so a majority of my time went into Team Rocket and their Pokemon prepping for their final launch. Hopefully, they leave the stratosphere and Leave Ash and Pikachu alone for good. Time for a role call, who is Pikachu zapping with a good ol' Thunderbolt:

Carnivine, Weezing, Yamask, Lickitung, Seviper, Mime Jr., Cacnea, Yanmega, Frillish♀, Jessie, Meowth, James, Mareanie, Chimecho, Victreebel, Arbok, Wobbuffet, Gourgeist, Woobat, Inkay, Amoonguss, Morpeko, Mimikyu and Dustox.

Counting Pikachu, that makes 25 characters squeezed into a single piece. Blasting through my previous record of just 6.

NOTE 1: By random coincidence, I ended up drawing Mimikyu twice in a row.

NOTE 2: 25 is also Pikachu's Pokedex No., that was also a coincidence.
