there was once a song called See Forever Eyes. i think it was by a band called Prism. the name inspired a doodle... inspired this painting...watercolors.
shout out to the Buddha on this one.

One of my favorites as well in your gallery. Probably one of the drawings (as well as few others) that caused me to watch you. The coloring is perfect. Im kind of wondering why he is so sad...or is that just how a skull looks. Of course then Im getting into whether or not skulls have feelings..hmmmm.

i feel like such a pretentious geek talking about my own art but hopefully this will be so convoluted and longwinded that others will just pass it by and make their own free associations...
bear with me here and fasten your seatbelt! to explain why the skull may look so sad requires plunging into the depleted brain pit where odd associations and moist evils dwell.
originally i had the ideas of impermanence and being caught up in temporal desires, and clinging to the false self, the "illusion" that is the cause of so much needless suffering according to Buddhist thought.
an extreme representation of this could be a suicide. complete absorbtion into an anguished present.
also, the song by Joy Division where Ian Curtis is singing about watching his own funeral (i think it's called The Eternal). and the aforementioned song from whence i eventualy stole the title.
the original title (once the idea of including a skull and the element of past violence "set")was to be "a beauty i shall never see"
the forever staring eye was the victim of self-inflicted violence.
the questions i wished to instill upon the viewer seeing the skull were:
is it peace? or anguish?
was it murder? or suicide?
hopefully that explains a little.

it would be wouldn't it? skeletons staring back at you through the ages... even more so when the eyelids rotted off. i bet people would blindfold the dead.

thankyou. i was rather pleased with how the grass and flowers turned out (two things i don't draw/paint very often). i pretty much had to throw in a skull or someone would popup and call me a pooosy.
