In addition to Isle Delfino, the shell-based Nokis also live in the Frutta Archipelago. Nokis of all ages love to play music, as well as toot their own horn on their prowess. In the Frutta Archipelago, male Nokis only come in the secondary colors, while females are all primary colored.

Nokis made their first Mario appearance in Super Mario Sunshine for the Gamecube. Officially, they have never actually been in a Paper Mario game. Within the DMZ canon, Nokis appear in the topic recut of the 3DS Paper Mario game, as well as fangame topic-only Paper Mario Relic Hunter.
