this is fantastic... there's a thickness, roughness about it... that curtain, or that wave, seems so heavy... the play with texture is great... the title too.. the way he seems to be struggling with the weight - of his diving suit, and the curtain - makes me think of the " syndrome du scaphandrier" (deep-see diver syndrome) described by Jacques Poulin in Volksvagen Blues... just a metaphor for the hindrances that keep us from going forward (the weight of memories, feelings, etc), but it's like you put this idea into image, and the most perfect way possible. p.s. i hope my English is understandable, i just woke up... from a dream where i was in a rowboat with my mother and brother and the boat was sinking

Hi Isabelle. I am glad you woke up from your dream...no diving suits an all.
And can understand that this image kinda pulled you in! It is very inspiring
to get such intelligent and imaginative ( in the best sense of the word) interpretation.
Funny enough I have a song on my I-tunes also called Volksagen blues - but this one is by former
culture minister in Brazil Gilberto Gil
When I male my art I usually dont think too much, but what you write comes as no suprise, symbolism and the
metaphor's are there working, but under the surface.
And your englsh is more than understandable (wha ever that mean!)

well i believe that when we don't think too much, that's when our subconscious undercurrents speak... and that title/artist comment encouraged me to tell you the thoughts evoked by your image - i thought it would be ok, in that context

Cloth is more or less the same really! I did more radical changes. but it looked to plastic!

I like the surrealism of this - the deep sea diver caught by a drape. The diving suit evokes the power to enter other realms and at the same time a hint of claustrophobia. The iconic red star could be from a real country or an imaginary one. Plus masonite!

I have a great fear for deep dark water, very simmilar with what I see here.

I'm not sure why - but it makes a difference when one posts a work - suddenly one sees more clearly ....maybe it's just part of the process ... as long as you end up where you want to be.

this derkert art i love much better than the (sometimes forced) funny one. the middle line's a bit rough but the nautonaut fighting the thick curtain - that's your own true playful fantastic admirable imagination that feels so close to mine.
and of course the look of paper ...

photos, painting (analogue) and me and my mac. And only the Mac is digital!
Just changed it around with more cloth an some digital painting. Not finished, but realised as as just uploaded the piece that I was not satisfied! So I hade ti fix the worst parts- AndI had it for months. I should have known better!
