Description
It is said that atonement is making amends. Accepting that some wrong was done and that compensation is needed.
It is not punishment, for punishment does not equal forgiveness nor repentance.
But atonement does.
Isobel was the strongest, most capable of them all. Self-righteous as few could be.
Unlike most people her age, she knew what she wanted, and knew how to get there. She had a clear vision of how the world was supposed to be and tried to make it happen every day of her life.
But she was human, and made a mistake. And there was no one to forgive her, yet so much to repent.
So how do you atone, when you fail yourself yet are so proud and mighty that are absolutely unable to forgive yourself for that?
You punish yourself until there's nothing left of the you that failed.

thanks! It was... a very lucky accident O.O I wanted to add more textures, and when I placed it over the image, that black and white patch was "WOAH!"
so had to leave it. ^_____^ I'm really happy with this one.

I know about the book, but haven't read it yet (I am trying to get the library I work for to get it XD), and I've been meaning to watch the movie, it got some great reviews, and I really like the male lead. Is the movie good? I heard the book is great, but sometimes book-adaptations are such a mess when translated into movies.

Mr McEwan is one of my favorites writers...
but this novel is just a little bit atypical for his style...but is so intense and overall involving.
I think that the director -joe wright- has been
able to recreate the atmosphere...the unstoppable
sequence of the events that transform and mould our life....good ...very good
I didn't like Keira Knightley only, the female lead,
but I suggest to read the book and to watch the film.

i was visiting a friend in columbia mo a few years ago and we didn't have anything to do for the afternoon so while i was sitting there doodling i came up with that mark and said let's go to the tattoo shop

I looove symmetrical tattoos. Yours is very very nice, and it's really cool how it came to you in the spur of the moment (and yes, itΒ΄s very similar to hers O.O)
I've only did one side of mine (it's a narcissus gone minimalistic XD), but I am always tempted to go get its twin on the other side.
