Description Alternative title: Waiting for Coyote to Evolve

I've never done desert art before. I've always kind of liked landscape paintings depicting desert scenes of the American Southwest. So, I decided to give it a try as the setting for my latest paleo artwork.

The books say archaeopteryx was a forest creature, but, after trying a few different animals, I thought he looked pretty good there sitting there on the rock. Perhaps it's a bit anacronistic. He reminds me a lot of a roadrunner, hence the alternative title.

Indeed, he looks lovely there! What a pretty rendering.
However, the environment doesn't fit the time period where he lived. Cacti and grass only appeared more than a hundred million years later.

Thanks! Yeah, I know it's a bit anachronistic, but my goal is always art before science.

I really like it ... but there definitely wouldn't have been cacti and grasses in the Jurassic.

Thanks! Anachronistic, I know, archeopteryx were forest dwellers anyhow not desert, but I go for art over science every time.
