A mighty lion with a golden mane stands tall on a rock atop a grass covered hill. Light from the early morning sun shines upon the king of beasts as he gazes upon the African plains that are his kingdom. A symbol of strength, this great cat is one of the most commonly depicted wild animals in the history of painting.
As always, big cats are one of my favorite subjects. Lions, however, have always been a bit of a challenge to get the mane right. I believe this to be my best so far.

Hmmmm, it sounds like you spent a lot of time on his mane. But why are you so opposed to showing his maleness or working on it? A bit of trivia- a male lion will lose his mane if he is neutered.
