Prints: daniel-eskridge.artistwebsites…Three teepees (also called tipis or tepees) stand on a grassy hill in the plains of the American west.
This is the latest in my series of Native American themed art. For this one I was going for a more minimalist composition that what I normally do.

I love this model, too! It's the most accurately done on the market. It even has the line and peg that anchor the basic tripod of the tipi to the ground near the back side inside the tipi! Funny as it seems though with a relatively simple structure such as a tipi, even this one isn't done entirely authentic. The ground shape is circular when it ought to be slightly egg-shaped. The apex rises over the center when it ought to be situtated more to the back, giving the tipi a steeper angle on the western side from where most of the the strong winds come when being camped east of the Rockies. BTW, tipi clusters always had all the tipis facing to the east. I know, turning the angles creates variation when duplicating the same model a few times. It's often a treadeoff between historical authenticity and achieveing good looks with not too much effort.

A wigwam is actually different. Same purpose and materials, but it's dome shaped.
