Lovely - the color is gorgeous, the clarity of the shot is just perfect.

Thank you very much, Chris. The light couldn't have been more perfect where these lotuses grow...lots of reflected light in the pond and around the shore, but very little direct light. That's what makes it look so good!

I hope so! I should have learned a few tricks after all this time. But I've been known to shoot stuff under adverse conditions (bad lighting), and all I can say is, thank goodness it didn't cost me anything; I just threw those baddies out!

Beautifully done! And yes, lighting is crucial...

Thank you. Lighting in the area where these flowers bloom is just perfect. there's lots of reflected light from the pond and surrounding banks, so there's no shortage of fill. But no harsh glare from the sun is the real bonus here!

Thank you. THey are such stunningly beautiful flowers in person, too. They seem to photograph much better than most other flowers.

Thanks so much. I've got so many lotus pictures, I keep trying to rein myself in, but I just couldn't with this one. It's the best yet, I think.

Thank you so much. These flowers really look good in photos, unlike my rose pictures, which look kind of awful. I guess it's that soft, diffuse lighting, which makes all the difference.

Thanks, Anita. I think the whole thing IS the lighting! I never get results like this when I photograph things in the sunlight. They always look kind of hard, you know? The lotuses bloom in a shady place, but there's a lot of reflected light from the pond and surrounding shoreline. It's just the right mix of light and shade.

The details you've captured are amazing.

Thank you, Nance. It think the details are prominent because the lighting is really good in that spot, and the flowers are huge! They are about 8 inches wide, too!

Thank you very much. These flowers look really good in photos, unlike some others. I think the combination of soft, diffuse light and bright pastel colors make the picture stand out. I wish I could capture a rose like that!

Thank you! I thought you would when I posted it. I know I've posted several before, but this one just knocked me out. It was amazing to see in person and I had perfect lighting conditions, too.

Thank you. I love seeing these flowers growing in the pond. They're so big and magnificent. I keep taking pictures of them, even though I have about 10 already.
