Thank you so much for the nice compliment, Anita! I will certainly pass your kind words onto my hubby, who needs some encouragement right now. He's been very sick with an upper respiratory infection for 2 weeks, and his thyroid situation still isn't fixed. I'm a "one-man band" chore-wise, so I haven't had any photographic inspiration for quite a long time. Maybe someday I'll get time and strength back....

He does, indeed. He's been feeling sick for quite awhile, so no more pix have been taken, sad to say.

Thanks, Ginny...I'll be sure to pass your words along to Jon. I do hope he'll do some serious stuff soon. We did a few snaps yesterday (Point Lookout, MD), but neither one of us saw anything really interesting!

yeah I bought a P&S for my last cruise, just wasn't up to taking the dslr this time. It's a great cam, but really the 12mp (after reading went with smaller mp sensor) images on mine are no better than the 10 mp ones blown to same size. It has something to do with the sensors being to small and all those MP being crammed on there. I learned long ago to not look at just MP. Which I wish my DSLR had more (it's 6) I'm perfectly happy with it. and happy with my fuji P&S, which I made sure I could manually set. It's nice to have a compact that isn't completely point and shoot, but can be in a jam. I hope he's glad he started shooting again and continues to have fun with it.

You are so right, Chris: MPs aren't everything. Cameras are sold on that premise, and it's just not true. I think 6 MPs is fine, so is 8. After awhile, it's just excess file size, good for printing gigantic posters, no real difference in quality.
P&S's are great when you want to record something fast and accurately. They can take great art shots, too. I like both types of cameras for different reasons, I guess.
He's having fun with it, for sure!

yes do pass it along , we all need encouragement to keep on track. Im doing as little as possible. Enjoying the grand kids over and riding my bicycle when ever the weather allows. I think if I was gone as long as you I would be lost on how to get on but I finally bookmarked it and now I don't have any problems anymore.....lol. and you, how are you doing?

I'm doing fine now, Edie. Thank you for asking. You know all about that food poisoning thing, and that's in the past, just a bad memory. I have been taking it easy, playing video games, enjoying the summer outdoors, taking a few pix now and then, etc. It's a good life so far, I must say. Being well and in good health is worth a bag of gold.
