Holy crap that is color overload!! Love it. Though the orange and blue...polar opposite colors, it legit overloads my eyes.
But then again, I'm under the influence of a powerful allergy med right now so I'm basically drunk.

Well if you want experience at drawing backgrounds.
It is often easiest to draw something you know.
Maybe go to a local park or something, take a few landscape images and make sure to walk around the areas you take photos of. This will help your brain become familiar with the measurements as well as the landscape.
Drawing any form of proper backgound with detail, comes down to around 70% memories and real life experiences and around 30% imagination. depending on the medium.

Aw, thanks~ I've been trying to branch out with backgrounds, but my main issue is that I have yet to buy the air brush set for my copics. It's hard to cover large swatches in a single color without them streaking, so I may get into watercolor for background purposes. But I really do need to dedicate the time to sitting down & doing backgrounds.

Maybe try using just some marker pens in combinations.
I am sure you might be able to think of something.
Another option might be spry paint, if you cut out your drawing, spray paint a backround on some paper and then just overlay the drawing.

Well, I do use multiple types of markers, but the particular shape of the nibs makes flat colors difficult in large areas. Which is why I think I can do better with spray ink, or with watercolor, which I may do. Spray paint would be fun to play around with once I have a better job & can consistently buy it

Ya that makes a lot of sense now that you have explained it.
Spray paint is quite cheep if you can get a large set.
