“So, one of the first things I learned when I started surfing was that wipeouts happen,… you do all you can to avoid them, of course,… but sometimes all you can do is relax into them, let them happen, and then shake yourself off and get right back on your board,… It’s all part of the experience.”

“Haha! That was a great wipeout, wasn’t it?”

Hula Girl: “…….”

Hula Girl’s Skulls: “…….”

“Oh, dear,… I don’t think Hula Girl appreciates a good wipeout as much as I do,…”

‘Hey,… thank you so much for showing me this great place to surf. How about we head back and maybe warm up in a nice lava bath?’

From the chibi stream of comes another adorable and funny image of his Hula Girl, and my Ember, following up the previous image.

After seeing the previous image, and Hula Girl’s expression as that wave loomed over her, with Ember surfing upside down on it the idea for this picture came to mind, and once the thought of this popped into my head I had to get it visualized. It seemed apparent in the patreon picture that that wave was coming down, and atleast one of them wasn’t going to avoid it, so the thought of them both drenched after such seemed fitting. Ember of course would be laughing it off, while Hula Girl is clearly abit less pleased with the situation, heh. I adore how this turned out,… all the little details, like Hula Girl’s tube and spear floating off behind them, and their flowers floating off to the side,… and how Hula Girl’s pose, lifting her hair back from her face, gives a feel for the weight and wetness of her hair, along with all the little water droplets here and there, along with Ember’s side curls drooping as well from being wet. But just like the previous image it really is the expressions that make this picture,… Ember’s clearly happy and confident smile,… the kind of person to take a tumble or wipeout, get back up, brush off, and get right back to it. And of course Hula Girl’s clearly grumbly expression, mirrored by her skulls,… it seems she is clearly quite displeased with the situation, especially with being drenched by a giant wave, all quite apparent from her eyes and her mouth,… yet from the positioning of her brows you get the impression that despite all this she’s not really angry at Ember, but clearly doesn’t share her friend’s happiness at this situation, and might even be questioning her friend’s sanity in this moment.
