have you checked off "all layers" when you have the bucket tool selected?

I don't understand how your lineart changed colors simply by locking the layer. Am I missing something as I read?Β

Thank you!

I locked the layer, then painted the lineart a different color.Β

ugh, I don't think I'll ever be a good colorist. every single step looks utterly WRONG and goes against every fiber of my artistic taste.. and yet the final product looks fantastic.

I was wondering how people could turn their pencil drawings in any color they wanted! This is so helpful, I can't wait to give it a try!
also, thanks for explaining everything so well, what they did and how to use them. Ex the clipping mask part.Β

THANK YOU! When you shade, are you using the burn/dodge or are you just selecting a darker color

I use the layer modes "Hard light" and "Overlay" mostly!

Are you using the soft brush w/ Burn to create the shading or are you just selecting a darker color for brush? Sorry if I'm not phrasing this right... I love your Patreon, it's helped my webcomic so much! Can I request that you do a short video of this process?

I don't use burn at all, I select a darker color and use "Hard light" and "Overlay" as my layer modes. I hope that clears it up!

A few pages back in Fjordson I was actually wondering specifically about that rim lighting, because it looked super good, so I'm glad you included that! I'm just now started to get some of these tricks, so this is great!!
