Thank you so much for this! Having a black and white masking layer is genius. Do you have any tutorials on what brushes you use and for which part of the process?

aww too bad. Yeah picking the right art school is important, and I've heard about some p bad ones. I was lucky enough to gett in contact with students of my school before I left, and I was not disappointed in the classes, they teach you everything here!
have you been thinking of applying to another school?

I really want too but life and finances have not been the kindest of task masters.Β I keep my ears open though for any opportunities or free life drawing sessions or other classes I can attend and just pay for singularly.Β
Sadly I had originally been interested in the college I went too because a friend of mine was supposed to go there, which he backed out last minute.Β We used to inspire each other quite a bit and I figured it would be wonderful to go to the same college as someone I knew.Β It was also a matter of tight finances then too, even with financial aid.Β The college had what we 'thought' was a reasonably priced program compared to others.Β Guess you get what you pay for.Β Reasonably priced seems to have meant cut corners.Β Lesson learned.

yeah the big art schools are expensive, like hella expensive. But you can learn online! many people get to master level like that, without any schoolΒ

I would like to improve my art in general, which I think is true of anyone but, I really want to be able to render a picture without the use of outlines.Β I have a lot of trouble with that.Β Every time I try to take the sketch layer or line layer off a colored pic or make one without any pen tool lines at all it looks....well bad.Β Maybe I just don't have a good eye for color or maybe it's just a technique I don't know yet, but I never feel any of the picture reads without the line.Β The characters don't look....defined.Β Is that an arm or part of the chest?Β Is that the jaw line or the throat?Β I don't feel realism is my style per say, but I've seen and tried to study as many painted pictures as I can.Β Still I seem to be missing some vital component or technique.Β I've tried using maybe a painted sort of color line but that just seems to stand out too much.

btw the color theory is more about how colors interact, not where you place them x)
good tutorial!

you need to know color theory to know what colors to pick, and place them too.
