Description Monochrome

Sunday night I drove from San Antonio New Mexico down to Alamogordo. There I could not wait to hike through the unique beauty of White Sands National Monument. It was even more beautiful than I imagined. For as far as your eye can see great dunes of white gypsum role leisurely across the desert plain. Yucca plants grow here in varying sizes and various degrees of being buried in the dunes. They add key focal points for scale and visual interest as you hike and look. Given the bright white of the dunes and the varying tones of the shadows the whole area is perfect for black and white imagery. I did my best.
