= Manipulation through singing: As a Siren, it is only logical that she sings well. Depending on the song, and her intentions, it is possible for her to manipulate creatures through her singing. However, she has only still has much to learn, and considered young for a Siren. She can only manipulate small creatures, and oftentimes children.
= Fast healing: She heals faster than humans, though its speed depends on how large or fatal it is. However, she isn’t capable of regenerating new body parts.
= Breathing underwater: Sirens usually reside in coastal areas, and may be mistaken for mermaids in some occasions.
= Longevity: Her species are able to last up to centuries, but they are still mortal and not susceptible to pain.
PERSONALITY:
[ flirtatious | charming | romantic | respectful | seductive | obsessive | possessive ]
Whether it was the personality or her appearance, Daphne is usually a very noticeable person. She always carries herself with grace, and nothing less. She loves receiving attention as much as she does giving them to others. She enjoys having the company of others, and making new friends. She could be considered as a romantic, and had always wanted to give someone attention that she would like to receive, spending her life with them. It’s easy for her to get attached to people, especially emotionally, which can lead to an unhealthy obsession. She’s very possessive of those she considered to be “hers”, whether friends, family, or any form of attachment. She wouldn’t hesitate to hurt anyone who crosses her—slowly. Though she enjoys being the center of attention, she doesn’t believe herself to be better than anyone, other than humans. She is also addicted to trouble and drama, going so far as to causing it when she feels like it. This is mostly because she enjoyed being hurt, whether physically, or emotionally, though she much preferred the latter.
STRENGTHS:
= *see abilities
= Though she isn’t the strongest fighter, she’s skilled in using whips, and she has high tolerance to pain—she likes it.
WEAKNESSES:
= Easily attached and obsessed over someone. If anything happens to them, she will get upset.
= She doesn’t have much strength
= High sensitivity to smoke—it suffocates her.
= Mortal.
HISTORY:
Born within the deep oceans, raised in the island of Anthemosssa, Daphne the rest of her kind spent their days singing, dancing, and simply playing around all day. Her mother told her stories about ships passing by from all corners of the globe, and how they’d lure them in and eat the flesh of the souls who were in it. Of course, there were skeptics. They didn’t believe such a thing existed; merely myths someone conjured. Every once in a while, they would conduct expeditions, where older, experienced Sirens would fly across the oceans in search of these ships, in hopes to lure them in as a feast, while the child stood by the shore and watched them. Sure, she was able to swim from place to place, but she wasn’t given permission to leave more than a mile from the coast; the ocean was too dangerous, said her mother, and the feathered wings made it all the more difficult to swim in case she found herself being chased. Days, months, and years passed with the same routine. The longer she stayed, the more she hungered to venture out across the waters, explore the world.
One day, at her fifty-fifth birthday, a ship arrived on the shores of their island, equipped with weaponry too advanced for the Sirens to understand. The sirens sang, elders approaching the ship in order to will it closer. And then, explosions were heard. Daphne became worried for her mother, who was part of the team, and snuck away to search for her. Her wings were large—too large for her to control, and support her own weight in flight. She stepped into the waters, swimming her way close to the ship and saw a creature standing on its dock, about her age. It didn’t look like anyone she knew—having short hair, wearing clothes and wingless. Curious, she emerged to the surface, and became noticeable to him. Then things became out of control. He started calling for the others, and the next thing she knew, she was captured, covered in a net on board the ship. It was all hazy, but as she stood, she realized a significant amount of weight wasn’t present. She turned to find her wings missing—but a couple bones remained on her back. She was then taken into the human world, locked away in a cell of white walls, and nothing but. Every once in a while, humans would come to her and do a series of things she wasn’t able to comprehend, testing her physical and mental abilities. Seventeen years she endured experimentation, scratchless due to her healing abilities, yet her wings remained missing. She grew stronger over the years, and managed to escape, stumbling upon Saint Hollow. At first, she resided in the streets, singing her way to make a living, until she was hired at the local burlesque.
[ Tl;dr summary: Daphne had a boring childhood, practically nothing to do but sing and play. One day, a human ship passed by, where she was captured, wings taken from her and became subject of experimentation. She escaped and came to Saint Hollow, where she was hired as a performer]
