Samonas (Greek: Σαμῶνας, c. 875 – after 908) was an Arab-born eunuch, who was captured by the Byzantines and became one of the most influential officials of the Byzantine Empire during the first decade of the 10th century.
He was favorite of Emperor Leo VI the Wise. He was patricius and parakoimomenos of Emperor. He headed the army, and was the commander of counterintelligence and the emperor's bodyguards.

"There we find a detailed portrait of the eunuch Samonas, a historical figure of the ninth century who was praepositus sacri cubiculi under the Emperor Leo VI. He is accused of of all the traditional eunuch faults: arrogance, undisciplined temper, and sodomy.
