You lucky, lucky person! I associate music and other things with letters, numbers, and words with colours, but I don't actually have synaesthesia.

I actually wish I had this, it would be really awesome! In my head, I do actually associate specific letters and numbers with a particular colour, and when I visualize them in my head they're always that colour, but I can't physically see it, which makes me think I don't actually have it. I do the same thing with words; for example, in my head, the word "dog" is always yellow and the word "is" is always a specific shade of blue.

sometimes i wish i had that. i mean, i think of letters as having colors, but i know it's not the same, and i'd love to experience the real thing.

I've always thought of synesthesia as some sort of magical power, and wished I had it. I personify objects a lot and used to think of numbers as having personalities, so I may have a very mild form of this. I would love to have it in certain forms, though, it sounds wonderful.

With synesthesia, the flavors or colors or anything doesn't change with each word or number or whatever.
For example, I have sound/taste synesthesia, and words make me think of flavors. For me, the word good is the flavor of salted avocados, and it has been ever since I could remember. The connections don't exactly change.

I know, but I read somewhere that the way one person with Synaesthesia saw the colours, was that when they were reading, only the words they were looking at and the words around them would be in colour. So, for example, if they were reading this sentence and reading the following word, 'owl,' they would see the word owl and most surrounding words in their colours, while everything else outside of their focus would remain the original text colour.
(Don't quote me on that though, I read about Synaesthesia a while ago now XD) I hope I didn't misunderstand what you were trying to say.
orz for some reason I only just read your second sentence, even though it's right under the other one. I'm afraid I'm very tired right now @_@
So if you have sound/taste, does that mean that you can only taste words if they're spoken aloud? What happens when you listen to really fast singing or other languages? :>
(I'm sorry for the long comment and questions, I'm really curious DX)

I don't have synesthesia, but I don't think it's so much that when they look at a word the actual letters on the page are different colours, but rather that they associate in their minds a certain colour with each letter.
My friend's mom ha that sort of synesthesia, and she mostly just complains that billboards or things like that made words "the wrong colour". So it's not like they don't see font colours.

I have it, and I used to love it. But now I really wish there was a cure for it. My synesthesia is very intense and is sometimes overwhelming. I miss being able to look at the sky without it being distorted by colors. I hate being treated like a freak just because I'm the only one in my small town that has it.
