I totally agree with you though. Music has saved my life. My favorite song is by an unknown artist as well and I often get wired faces when I tell my friends to listen to the song.
But you know what? Music is a personal thing? It's between you and the lyrics. So who really cares what others think?

I haven't listened to the song you put on here, but if you like alt. rock, try Blue October. Blue October helped me hold on when things got hard, and it's helped a lot of people too. I've heard so many people say that Blue October is the reason why they're still here.

Music is very therapeutic. When you have different tastes outside mainstream you're going to be questioned. Trust me. I'm Mexican/Native American and I grew up listening to Korean and Chinese music and no one understands why...and I don't give a damn. Keep listening to what you want for whatever reason you want.

This song always plays at least three times every night we go out - the Serbian version but all the same. So I think I'll think of you the next time I go out and hear it.
It's more than okay to listen to things no one else knows about. Mostly because in my country, even though some people listen to this genre of music, it can get you in real trouble with some other people sometimes (this IS Balkan, after all

That guy was one of my favorite guy of that year's Eurovision.
That being said, I get that kind of question a lot, most people just don't understand the desire to go beyond the music they're immediately exposed to, be it by friends or TV or the radio or anything, don't stop expanding your horizons because of them and I hope you'll find more singers/musicians/people worth living for.

Same reason I listen to music, though I've never even heard of this singer. At all. Though I'm pretty sure I can hear a few songs by him just by looking him up. And I'm pretty sure there are other people out there that listens to the singer you love really much and understand what you're feeling. I hope you find these fans.

I get this a lot. I have a lot of artists in my library that are incredibly well known (Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion) and some that aren't so well known (Rupesh Cartel, Client, deZpetion). Well known or not, I listen to music that speaks to me. These people you're referring to are obviously listening to music for a much different reason that you are. Based on my experience, I can say it's likely that they just listen to whatever's popular in the charts at the moment and just move on when something else comes along.
