My big sister said like, the exact same thing to me a week or so ago.
It really helped me.
Tell her.

I understand what you mean. My little brother is goig hrouh a stage I know all to well. Unlike everyone else in the family I know why he is acting the way he is and I know how he feels, and that scares me beyond all reason. I try to be patient with him...but I don't know. I hope that you have better luck :]

Combine that with the below messages and you have a great forumula already -- they make thier own mistakes and learn from them, which is all part of life and freedom, and then they have a wonderful person like you to turn to and can build up from that.

I often feel the same way after leaving home. Alot has happened to my sister but letting them know they can talk to you whenever they need to gives them some form of safety blanket.

That way it's up to them wether they use it or not

I couldn't agree more.

Not yelling or criticising or prohibiting or pretending you don't care, but BE THERE for her.

for the most part
i don't think it's the mistakes she's trying to prevent, i think perhaps she's just noticing behaviour which would imply a more inner turmoil

shrug, sounds like they're trying to get them to not go down the same path, ie not make the same mistakes
