You have to try to get on with your life, hard as it may be, and use the gift that they gave you to try and help others. Everything happens for a reason, or so they say, so there must be a reason for you surviving. You just have to find it.

P.S. I'm sorry, but Crawling-meower? You're an ass.

For all the 'don't waste what you got', I won't restate what you've all ready heard. I'll tell you straight up that I'm sorry this is the way life has fallen upon you, though. You didn't deserve it; no one does.

Don't waste this person's good deed by wasting your life. Its your job now to prove that their sacrifice was not in vain. everything happens for a reason... Are you really going to sit there wishing it was you when this person thought enough of you to save your life? Will you really squander that wonderful gift as if it were nothing? You should be living your life to the absolute fullest and honoring the gift this person gave you.

Amen. You must be a wonderful person for this friend to have given their life to save yours. People have an instinct of self-preservation, but this person squashed that to save you. Live your life to it's fullest which is what they would have wanted.

Cheers.

of course it's hard to live with that, but it's just human instinct i guess...you have to try to think in a different way. you feel guilt and stuff, that's natural, but i would say...it's a bit selfish to choose for death yourself and let the other one survive to save him/her and make him or her suffer in this guilt what you are going through right now...remember, YOU are the one sparing the other person! you have to suffer more...you're NOT guilty. just try to tell yourself that you should be thankful, and make them proud of you

I'm struggling to imagine what event caused this secret, beyond some sort of Hollywood action scene.

I agree with the others.

I can't say "I understand", as I've never been in that situation before, but it makes sense that you'd have some 'survivor's guilt' as they call it. But you can't change the past. They obviously thought you needed to live a little bit longer, so prove them right. Do something good with your life. Live it. Don't let their sacrifice be in vain. I want to say, "Let your life be a testament to them," but that doesn't sound quite right. I hope you get what I mean?

Congratulations sweetie. This is the beginning of the rest of your life.

Seconded ^_^

Sorry to hear about how you feel ST, I'm sure things will heal in time, and you will smile for the person who saved you

Choose to live your life to make that person proud. If you don't feel like you were worth saving, become a person who deserves it.

That being said, I would probably feel the same way if someone dies saving my life.

I think that how you feel is understandble. However, you must remember, this person died for you. Live your life to the fullest instead of regretting that it wasn't you that died.

I am sure you are grateful but guilty at the same time. You know what I mean yeah? Like, you feel that you should be thanking this person, but you just can't because you also find their deed stupid. However, think it this way, if you were in the situation your friend was, would you sit there and let THEM die?

That's quite ungrateful of you.

He/she wouldn't want their efforts to result in sadness, ST. I know it'll be painful forever, but try to move through life as though his/her ghost or spirit is always with you.

Then if you feel you should have been the one to die, understand then, that he saved your life. If he did, do you think he'd want you to walk around, lamenting upon that fact?

I'm sure he did it, because he saw in you the hope to carry on, and wanted you to be able to see life and enjoy it. Please don't ruin his precious gift with despair.
