But the real irony is...as I write this comment, I see a DD right underneath, of a bus on which it says "Death is the only escape". There'v been a lot of those little coincidences lately.

Fresh death smells hallow, but I can see the same earthy scent being picked up. However, ONLY fresh death. Once the body settles, it becomes pungent, vinegary, a sickly sweet sour smell.

I don't think he/she actually meant that dead people smell like menstrual blood, I think they meant that it smells like dying.
That dying smells like getting rid of something you don't want and isn't in use.

I agree with you.. At first I thought the ST symbolically meant something like losing a baby.. You know,, when you get the monthly while pregnant the baby dies.. That's what I thought the 'Isn't it ironic part?' implied

Not really...I did work experience at a place where they did autopsies on dead animals etc...it smells gross, but nothing like menstrual blood, really...I guess it smells different for different people, though >_>

if by death smell you mean: somebody bleeding...
I don't think so.
I have a sensitive nose(if I can call it that way). I know the smell of period's blood and the smell of the blood that come out when we cut some flash and start to REALLY bleed.
and the smell of cut's blood's more nauseating than the period's blood. They aren't the same.

Funny, I have a very similar theory to what death smells/tastes like.
Not menstrual blood, but the regular variety. Whenever I almost fall off something, almost trip or almost otherwise hurt myself, my breath catches I smell and taste blood in the air. It's the weirdest thing.
