I never read that book , but now I'm curious . Is it one of those books that gives you a revelation and makes you go "that's it !" type of book ?

I've never read that book
But I think about art dying every day. And it makes me horrified to think of a future with no art, where everything is controlled by money, where people have no emotions...
Because I know it could happen. Or actually, I know it won't happen, but it hypothetically could.
That book should be OBLIGATORY in ALL schools.
I can't sleep when I think of a future with no culture

The first time I read that book, I'm reasonably sure I couldn't sleep for thinking about it. And I know I cried too.

Yea. I'm getting somewhat the same feeling while reading Atlas Shrugged. The way it's all so corrupt. But I've also felt it with 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World...

I never read the book, well okay I've read parts of it. But when I've watched the movie many many times, I cry almost every time!

I read it in English. I think that annotating it ruined what might have been a good and inspiring piece of literature for me. I didn't cry, but looked very disappointedly at the book for many hours. I think this English class has ruined reading for me.

One of my favorite books. And one of the scariest, because it COULD happen. And things are getting closer and closer to it. Similar theme to 1984, really. I agree completely.

i have the same exact fear. i became incredibly mad with my mother when she bought the kindle--which to me is a replacement to paper books, much like in Fahrenheit 451.

DON'T read 1984 by Orwell, then.

never mind fiction, though you're right... for serious, real world worry, read Noam Chomsky.

Oh no, can't handle real world. That'd be just plain terrible. But I'll see if I find something of him here.

Well, it sure does. Real life is unexpected and anything could happen, but if it's a book, then you have certain rules and stereothypes which make it predictable (most times)

Thank you so much for saying out out loud.

I understand completely. Bradbury was known for writing about what he believed would happen in the future. Who knows? Maybe this is exactly what is happening. And I will mourn that day and be like Guy and hoard my books.

I think exactly the same thing.
And after reading the book I truly understanded the power and value of literature.
People think I'm crazy because I like to read, but I know I'm not, they are the ones that are mistaken.
