I know what you're feeling, ST. I'm having these same thoughts too. All we got to do is try our best. I'm sure you will be able to succeed.

Brutal honesty: you're professor (if he/she is a good one) will likely make you think you aren't good enough.
Get over it, practice, and you will get better.
(And just realize, that there will be others in the class whose writing is atrocious, who lack creativity, who are only taking the class to fulfill a requirement. You may not be the best, but you won't be the worst. And I'm glad you're taking a writing class. There are WAY too many who think their writing is the best evar! when it is in fact.. not)

If you're not good enough you'll get better. Plain and simple. If you really want to become a writer you need to work for your goal <3
Good luck and have fun!

BE GOOD ENOUGH.
If you want something this badly, if you love it this much, it's what you are meant to do. Practice. The world loves stories and humankind will always need them.
Also, NaNoWriMo might be something to try, to test yourself. [link]
The community is really helpful and nice, and it will be a good way to find out your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing.

Anyone can write. It's not about being good enough, it's about how much you want it. You can do anything if you really want it.
We all start out not-so-great; we all learn, practice and improve. There'll always be people that you think are better writers than you, but that's okay. Appreciate their work. Learn from them. You'll improve.
If you aren't accepted, remember: a course isn't going to make you a writer. Sitting down and writing is how writers are born. You just do it. You just write. c:
P.S. Read. A lot -- everything you can get your hands on.

You'll never know if you don't try.
If you don't try, its an automatic NO.
Try and you may get a YES.

Write everyday. I've been writing everyday for seventeen years. I know I am good enough. Work for it, you will be too.

Honestly, no one can tell you you're not good enough, because someone somewhere in the world will love your writing.
If only ONE person is a fan, you are a success.

NEVER think that way, ST. Especially with writing. Have confidence, take advice, ask for critique, and be greatful for it, even if it's harsh.

Try it. I was scared to submit some of my writing to a literary journal, but I did it and got published. Don't be scared of what others think.

I'm a writer. Not professionally, but it doesn't matter much because I love what I do.
Listen, it's not about how good you are. There are lots of people out there who can write well. But that doesn't mean anyone wants to read what they have to say.
A good story is about your heart. Your passion for writing. If you like writing, you could be good at it. But if you love it? I have no doubt you'll be great.
Your only limitations are the boundaries of your own imagination.
Also, don't doubt yourself, don't question it, just DO IT! Tackle your dream head first, like the rest of us wish we had the guts to.

Oh, don't worry. The only way you won't be good is if you never ever write.
You can do it! <3
This reminds me of a quote from Stephen King. I...never checked out the validity if he indeed said it but, eh, it's still good. :v "As a writer, you must do two things more than anything else: Read a lot and write a lot."

I did exactly this two and a half years ago. I remember applying for the course, being accepted and then panicking because I suddenly had the worst writer's block. It was like I had lost part of my brain and then, in the first class at uni we had to do continuous writing where the pen doesn't leave the page until the lecturer says so, even if you're just writing lalalala. We were given the beginning sentence, and it had to be about a body part. I got picked to read mine out, and instead of the normal constructive criticism comments that the other people had got, there was a moment of silence, and half the class whispered stuff like "wow...oh my god!"
Don't worry ST, you'll be great.

Writing is a hardcore business -- even the most famous of authors have been denied at least once. Keep writing, keep reading, and keep enjoying what you do because with those three things, you'll get better. Don't let publishers get you down. Revise, rethink, and rewrite.
You are good enough.

Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to go into digital art, I loved it, was good at it, but I was scared of the competitiveness of the field, so I chose pre-law instead. I'm good at it, and I know that if I keep at it I can still get a good job that will keep me financially secure... but I don't love it the way I love digital art. I've only started my second year, and I already regret not following my dreams. After I finish this degree I'm probably going to study media and art somewhere else. ST, I think you will regret it if you don't take that writing course and follow your dreams, too. So I say, by all means, go for it if that's what your heart is truly set on.

its not about being good enough, it's about leaving somethng behind, even if its just a tattered book left for your children to read, or scratched wragged graffiti on a park bench that makes a stranger smile

It's a fear of mine too. Writing is what I want to do with my life. I know that, I've known that since I was 8. Yet time and time again my work seems mediocre at best. All you can do is keep trying, ST.

It's ok to have doubts, just don't let them hinder you. It says a lot about you that you're even applying. Fear would hold less confident people back. Try. Trust me, it's better to try and fail than to not try and think "would I have made it?" Good luck <3

I don't think the question is whether you are good enough or not, but whether you're ready to push yourself for it. Writing courses are hard in that, sometimes you might spend time on things that are not what you want to be working on, but if you can pour all your effort into every assignment, I'm sure you will do well!

we all have doubts before doing something...it means it's important enough for you to think about all the details and take into account all possibilities
Fun fact: my mom will be 44 in november and she just started university, she doubted her abilities to design clothes for a whole year before actually inscribing herself...but going to the classes and starting the projects turned out to be awesome and she enjoys it
to stop rambling... i think that going to do what you like is not about pleasing the teachers it's about improving yourself
