I almost lost my horse earlier this year to colic, so I understand where you are coming from. I know our situations are not exactly the same, but he is my best friend, my true soul mate. He's only 5 though, so I have a lot of time with him but almost losing the one being that understood me hurt more than I could ever imagine. I couldn't imagine my life without him. He's the horse of a lifetime for me, I know I will never find a horse more talented, with a better brain, or a bigger heart. It kills me to think that one day I won't have my soulmate by my side, with his big brown eyes seeing me in a way different from the rest of the world.
So I know how you feel ST, we all have to face the reality that we will lose them one day. Yet its so hard to know how to carry on afterwards. I truly hope you have a long time left with your best friend. And I think you are a wonderful, wonderful person for giving him a second chance at life by saving him from the meat sale, and seeing past the superficial. Not many people could do that. You are amazing

I know just how you feel. I have a 31 year old Arabian mare, she's not the prettiest and not tall. She is a bit on the short side with a fuzzy teddy-bear coat and frizzy forelocks. And I tell you, I think about her death everyday of my life. It will be hard, I know that, I have had her for six years and I see her every Saturday. I talk to her and tell her about my week, I take how her ears incline towards me when I'm talking that she's listening
So, maybe I'm no helping at all, but, I just wanted you to know that there's someone who kind of knows what you're going through.

Aww deary T.T i love this one... i wish i could feel the same magic and bond you both have ;~; If i had such an amazing friendship like you have with this horse i'd cry so much... i can't even explain how happy i'd be to wake up to think i'd can go down and see this lil guy :') I'd cry so much... makes you feel like you want to die.. like you'd have no reason to live. But, even if this does sound a bit clichΓ©... he wouldn't want to see you sad and heartbroken because he'll feel the same way. But you can't just go and give up on life, i'm sure he wouldn't want that. As something passes on, something beautiful, imperfect and amazing as your horse will be born again. Imperfect is SO the new perfect :') Even if he is gone, he's still lives on in your heart, i'm sure he'll watch over you, wanting to see you happy, he'll still run around outside on the very ground you used to play with him... <33

I disagree. Whether there's no Heaven at all or there's one for everything that lives, I don't know and don't want to guess. But whatever comes I'm positively sure you're going to be together no matter what.

ST, I know that your relationship helps you through the tough times, but, and I hate to break this to you, but he won't live forever, no matter how much it feels like he will. When he's helping you through the good times, and you feel unstoppable and unbeatable, why not try to use these feelings to build up just a strong relationship with people? It sounds like I'm criticising you, but I really am not, and I know how much it hurts to lose a pet you have such a strong bond with. If you want a reason to go on afterwards, make yourself a reason.

I don't particularly like how you're assuming that no one in the world knows how you feel. I have a close friend who has a very very old cat that she had since she was little. They grew up together. She loves that cat more than anything on Earth, and even though he's 18 years old, he has A LOT of personality. She and that cat have this connection... I can't even describe it.
A year ago, a vet told her that he was going to die within a week, just before she went off to college. He's still alive, and if I honestly believe that's because he loves her too much to go just yet.
Maybe no one you know understands, but there are people in this world who DO. Don't put down their relationships or think yours is stronger. Please. Whether you mean to or not, you can hurt people that way.

No one will ever know how i feel.
No one, knows how any one else feels. They can only imagine, or relate to a similar experience.
Unless someone is me, and owns this exact horse, no one will know how i feel or what it feels like. They can only guess, or relate to their relationship they have with something else. It is no where near the same. That is what makes people unique.

But I think that there are people that really care for you and want you to keep yourself safe...just try to think who might it be,cause there is always one. 
You're not alone.I,for example,don't do anything for myself because my love will be worried for me.I saw him cry.

The point of it is that no one understands how eachother feels. We can guess, but we do not 'know'
I dont 'know' the bond someone may have with their cat, it is entirely different to what i have with my horse. It is not the same, nor is the next person who owns a horse. Look deeper.

I'm in college for psychology, and one thing I've definitely learned from my classes is that people can COMPLETELY understand how one another feels. So, ST, I'm sorry, but that's not true. :S And I hope you find a reason. The fact you're scared of having no reason when the dreadful time the horse dies shows that you WANT to have a reason not to die? Is that not reason enough?

It cannot be completely the same but I believe that she knows how you feel,as much as another human can understand.
